Marist Brothers Triumphs Again in Southern Zone Rugby Showdown!

Marist Brothers High School’s under-18 rugby team secured a solid victory over Nasinu Secondary School, defeating them 20-9 in the second round of the Southern Zone Deans competition held at the MBHS grounds. This win marks Marist’s second consecutive victory in the competition as they continue to build momentum.

The match began with Marist taking an early lead, scoring the first try in the opening minutes. They followed this up with a penalty kick, bringing the score to 8-0. Just before halftime, Marist scored again, leading 13-0 as they headed into the break after both conversions were missed.

Nasinu fought back in the second half, starting strong with a successful penalty kick that narrowed the gap to 13-3. However, Marist quickly extended their lead with a third try and a successful conversion, pushing the score to 20-3. Nasinu responded with two additional penalty kicks, finishing the match at 20-9.

Despite their defeat, Nasinu showed commendable discipline, effectively capitalizing on penalty kicks while struggling to penetrate Marist’s strong defensive line. This match is a part of a highly competitive Southern Zone tournament, where teams are striving for excellence.
