A trough of low pressure, together with a moist easterly wind flow, is bringing cloud, showers and isolated thunderstorms to the eastern and northern parts of the Fiji group. This bulletin was issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi, at 10:45am on Wednesday 15 April 2026. The main feature through to midnight tomorrow is an increased chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms across the eastern islands and interior districts of Viti Levu, with the rest of the country generally seeing only isolated afternoon or evening showers.
Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over the eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu (including Ra–Rakiraki, Tailevu North, Naitasiri, Navua–Suva–Nausori and Serua–Namosi), the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Taveuni and nearby isles and parts of southern Bua and Cakaudrove will see cloudy periods with some showers, isolated thunderstorms and the potential for heavy falls. Elsewhere conditions will be fine apart from the chance of afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Isolated heavy falls are likely in the more unsettled areas, and localised heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding of low-lying and flood-prone locations. Moderate to fresh easterly winds are expected across the group, with seas forecast to be moderate to rough.
Looking ahead to Friday, the pattern persists and the risk of occasional showers, isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls spreads to include the Northern Division in addition to the eastern parts and interior of Viti Levu, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, Yasawa, Mamanuca and Taveuni. Most other districts should see partly cloudy conditions with afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms developing.
Local notes: Navua–Suva–Nausori will have occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms, with today’s maximum near 30°C and tomorrow’s temperatures around 23–30°C; Friday again brings occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls. Nadi/Lautoka/Ba and Tavua/Rakiraki are expected to be fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, with daytime highs around 33°C today and near 23–33°C tomorrow (Friday highs around 32–33°C for those areas). Sigatoka and the Coral Coast will be mostly fine with possible afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, daytime highs near 32°C. Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni will see cloudy periods and some showers with isolated thunderstorms, with daytime highs around 31–33°C. Rotuma remains under a weak trough with cloudy periods, some showers and isolated thunderstorms, moderate to fresh easterly winds and moderate to rough seas, with temperatures near 32°C.
