Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at the delightful hour of 12:38am on Saturday, May 24th, 2025
Situation: Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A cheeky trough of low pressure is hanging out with us, bringing along clouds and rain until Sunday. It’s like a weather party, and everyone’s invited.
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Expect the occasional rain dancing around, with some heavy falls trying to steal the spotlight over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and their smaller island friends, plus the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. The Yasawa group and Sigatoka won’t be left out either, spotting a few clouds with showers and the chance of heavy rain crashing the scene. Elsewhere, just a cloudy day with a sprinkle of showers, especially when you’re trying to enjoy your afternoon or evening!
Winds will be moderate to fresh from the east, like a gentle nudge in the back, while the seas will be moderate to rough – so maybe skip the sailing for a bit.
Outlook for Monday: It looks like more showers are on the way for the same areas as before – Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and their buddies. The rest of the group? Expect mainly fine weather and a chance to enjoy some cool nights.
Now for the lowdown on specific areas!
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: It’s the rain show again with isolated heavy downpours making a guest appearance. Cool nights are here to steal the show.
For Sigatoka/ Coral Coast: Cloudy with a sprinkle of showers and a few heavy ones, all while you enjoy those cool nights.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Clouds are the main stars here, with a few afternoon or evening showers photobombing the fun. But Monday’s looking mainly fine, so keep your fingers crossed!
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Occasional rain with some heavy falls over Rakiraki, while the rest of the area sneaks in fine weather. Cool nights await!
For Natadradave/Korovou: Occasional rain joins the party with some heavy falls, followed by cool nights.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Clouds and showers are your buddies, with cool nights creeping in afterward.
For Labasa: The cloudy theme continues with possible heavy showers. That cool night air will keep you company.
For Savusavu: Expect some showers that are a bit on the heavy side. Guess what? Cool nights are the cherry on top!
For Lau/Lomaiviti: Occasional rain keeps it lively, and cool nights will cap it all off.
For Kadavu: It’s raining again, with isolated heavy falls giving you a run for your money. Cool nights will swoop in as usual.
For Rotuma: It’s a slow-moving trough party near Rotuma, with occasional showers that might get a bit heavy, along with some thunderstorms to spice things up before easing off tomorrow. Moderate winds from the east to southeast, along with moderate to rough seas, mean it’s still a bumpy ride out there.
Outlook for Monday: More showers, just in case you were wondering!
Stay dry and don’t forget your raincoat!
