The Fiji Tech Summit 2026 is set to take place during a pivotal moment for organizations facing rapid technological advancements and stringent global challenges. Ronald Sharma, the head of Innovation at Datec (Fiji) Pte, highlighted the significance of this year’s summit, which marks the fifth consecutive year of this influential event, emphasizing its role as a premier platform for technology dialogue, collaboration, and resilience not only in Fiji but throughout the Pacific region.
Mr. Sharma articulated the summit’s objective of fostering collective digital resilience across the Pacific as artificial intelligence continues to drive innovation while also imposing substantial pressures on technological supply chains, infrastructure capacity, and skill availability. He noted that, alongside cybersecurity threats, the implementation of responsible AI has emerged as a pressing regional priority. This necessitates shared understanding, meticulous planning, and cooperation among stakeholders.
With the theme “Bringing the Pacific Together,” the summit aims to address the implications of global AI acceleration, including the rising demand for advanced infrastructure, cloud services, and specialized hardware, which are leading to longer lead times and increased costs in Pacific markets. Such an environment calls for enhanced strategic planning, robust governance, and regional partnerships.
A significant focus of the Fiji Tech Summit 2026 will be cybersecurity, as the complexity of digital landscapes and AI-enabled threats pose growing risks to organizations and economies alike. The discussions will center on responsible AI adoption principles, encompassing governance, ethics, data protection, workforce readiness, and the challenges linked to excessive reliance on automated systems.
Moreover, the summit will explore the role of robotics and automation as emerging fields, particularly in terms of enhancing productivity and efficiency across Pacific Island economies while augmenting, rather than displacing, human roles.
Scheduled for November 12th and 13th, 2026, at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa in Natadola, the summit expects to gather around 350 delegates from Fiji and across the Pacific. Attendees can look forward to insights from over 25 global technology vendors who will share the latest tech trends, alongside an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge AI developments and innovations.
The Fiji Tech Summit not only serves as a platform for addressing technological challenges but also offers a hopeful vision for collaborative growth and resilience in the Pacific region. As the summit draws nearer, the anticipation builds around the strategic discussions and innovations that will shape the future of technology in the Pacific Islands.
