Brent Hill, the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Fiji, has announced his resignation, effective at the end of August 2025. His departure comes shortly after the announcement by Andre Viljoen, the chairperson of Tourism Fiji and CEO of Fiji Airways, that he would also be resigning. Hill has decided to return to Australia with his family after four transformative years leading the organization.

Viliame Gavoka, the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, expressed his sadness over the resignations but acknowledged the significant contributions both Hill and Viljoen made to Fiji’s tourism industry, especially during the recovery phase following the COVID-19 pandemic. Gavoka highlighted that Hill’s leadership helped guide tourism towards achieving record visitor arrivals of over one million, a milestone that underscores the success of the strategies implemented during his tenure.

Under Hill’s direction, Tourism Fiji experienced considerable growth, launching two major corporate plans and engaging in global marketing campaigns such as the award-winning “Where Happiness Comes Naturally.” His commitment to sustainability was evident through the introduction of electric vehicles and projects that promoted regenerative tourism practices, including the “Loloma Hour” initiative.

Hill also played a crucial role in supporting small and medium enterprises within the tourism sector and organizing significant events aimed at uplifting the overall tourism experience in Fiji. His leadership has left an enduring mark on the organization’s culture and has paved the way for future successes.

In light of Hill’s resignation, Gavoka confirmed that the Tourism Fiji board will commence the search for a capable successor who can continue the momentum Hill created. The outlook for Fiji’s tourism sector remains optimistic, with ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing sustainability and community involvement, promising to sustain the growth trajectory established under Hill’s guidance.

As Fiji prepares for this leadership transition, the potential for new ideas and innovations is hopeful, paving the way for continued growth in the tourism industry and increasing Fiji’s stature as a prime travel destination in the global market.
