In a significant operation in Sakoca, authorities conducted a second drug raid this week, resulting in the arrest of two women for allegedly possessing dried leaves thought to be marijuana. The raid was spearheaded by the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID) alongside the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU).

During the operation, police confiscated various items, including dried leaves wrapped in aluminum foil, cash, alcohol, mobile phones, and goods believed to be stolen. This follows a previous raid at the same location where a man was apprehended for methamphetamine possession. He is currently facing charges for unlawful possession of illicit drugs and is remanded in custody until February 19, 2025.

The two women remain in custody as authorities continue their investigations into these cases. These actions underscore the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes and enhance community safety.

In light of increasing drug-related arrests, there is hope that continued vigilance and proactive operations will lead to a decrease in substance abuse and overall crime rates in the community.
