A man in his 30s has tragically become the latest road fatality in the country. The incident occurred on February 18 when he was a passenger in a vehicle driven by another man, also in his 30s, that was involved in a serious crash on the Queens Highway near Wainigasau.

According to police reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into the opposite lane where it collided head-on with an oncoming car. Following the crash, the victim was transported to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in critical condition but sadly succumbed to his injuries the next day.

The driver involved in the accident is currently hospitalized, while the occupants of the other vehicle are reported to be in stable condition. This incident raises the national road death toll to seven, a concerning increase compared to just two during the same period last year.

In light of this event, police are urging all drivers to remain vigilant and avoid complacency while on the roads. Authorities emphasize that road safety is a shared responsibility, calling on everyone to prioritize caution and responsible driving to prevent further tragedies.
