A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the rape of two women, aged 19 and 20, as reported in the January 2026 Rape and Sexual Offences Statistics by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). Alongside sexual assault charges, the juvenile is also facing two counts of criminal trespass and one count of indecently annoying a person.

This incident is part of the ODPP’s latest monthly statistics, which track the number of rape and sexual offence cases that have been filed in the High Court and Magistrates’ Courts within the reporting period. The January report highlights a broader spectrum of serious sexual offences, including cases involving minors and those categorized as domestic-related, where the victims and accused are known to each other.

Additionally, the report includes a case where a 35-year-old man was charged with raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but the charges were eventually dropped due to insufficient evidence. Another case involved a 24-year-old man charged with raping his 20-year-old de facto partner, demonstrating a concerning trend in domestic-related sexual offences. Furthermore, a 24-year-old man was charged with the rape and sexual assault of his 18-year-old stepsister, but this matter was also discontinued when the victim could not be located before trial.

These statistics reflect ongoing concerns about sexual violence in the community and the complexities involved in prosecuting such cases, especially when it comes to the involvement of minors. While challenges in achieving convictions are evident, the attention brought to these incidents by the ODPP may contribute to a broader awareness and encourage measures aimed at prevention and support for victims.
