The FMF Nadi Bula Festival officially commenced yesterday evening at Prince Charles Park, where Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, emphasized the importance of compassion and vision for contestants and the Nadi community.
Under the theme “Rebuilding Lives through Compassion and Charity,” this year’s festival, organized by the Nadi Town Council, aims to unite the community through service and celebration, similar to past festivals that have focused on social issues and community well-being. Gavoka addressed the contestants as emerging leaders, highlighting their roles in championing important causes and contributing positively to their communities.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Nadi’s development, announcing an $8 million allocation in the 2025–2026 National Budget aimed at transforming the area into a model town. He noted that Nadi serves as a crucial hub for Fiji’s tourism sector and called on residents to act as ambassadors, welcoming international visitors.
“The significance of Nadi as the tourism capital is in your hands,” Gavoka stated, urging festival-goers to see the event as a step towards a brighter future for the town.
The week-long festival is expected to feature cultural performances, community outreach, and fundraising efforts for local causes, with contestants representing various sectors of Nadi and its surrounding districts. This year’s emphasis on compassion and charity reflects broader trends seen in similar events across Fiji that encourage community engagement and highlight urgent social issues.
The festival not only promises a vibrant atmosphere but also aims to inspire hope and collaboration among participants as they come together to uplift and support one another. The community’s active involvement, combined with government support, suggests a hopeful trajectory for Nadi, reinforcing its status as a vibrant hub for both tourism and local initiatives.
