The InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva recently hosted a festive Christmas cocktail event for clients and stakeholders at the Grand Pacific Hotel. IHG Portfolio General Manager Lachlan Walker described this gathering as an opportunity for the team to reflect on the year’s hard work and achievements, thanking shareholders, business partners, and customers for their continued support.
Walker highlighted that the past year had been both busy and rewarding for the FNPF-owned IHG Hotels in Fiji. He emphasized that the core of their operations extends beyond providing exceptional hospitality; it is also about positively impacting the communities they serve.
Notably, IHG has been actively engaged in environmental and community initiatives. Through its “Litter for a Latte” program, the hotels successful collected over 850 kilograms of trash from Natadola beach, with a goal to reach one tonne by the year’s end. Additionally, IHG has been a key player in promoting waste awareness with their campaign “If you can’t bin it, bag it.”
The organization has also raised approximately $70,000 through various fundraising efforts, including the Cup of Kindness Coffee Donations, which have funded vital community projects focused on education, healthcare, and sustainability. Through their Community Care Fund, over $130,000 has been invested in local initiatives in Natadola and Suva, directly benefiting many individuals and community programs.
Walker further noted the impact of IHG’s global Giving for Good month held in September, where they partnered with local organizations to provide more than 1,600 meals to homeless individuals in Suva and Nadi, demonstrating a strong commitment to social responsibility.
This event not only marks the festive season but also reflects a spirit of community and collaboration in Fiji, as IHG continues to strive for positive change while delivering high-quality service to its guests.
Overall, this story highlights the importance of hospitality businesses engaging with their communities and addressing environmental concerns, showcasing a model for corporate social responsibility that can inspire others in the industry.
