Weather Alert: The Tropical Performer Takes Center Stage

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 7:30 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026

Hold on to your umbrellas, ladies and gentlemen! A mischievous trough of low pressure has decided to settle over our beautiful islands, likely bolstering its strength tomorrow. Expect the clouds to gather and dance around, bringing a sprinkle of rain and delightful thunderstorms to keep things exciting – just what we ordered for a cozy day in!

Forecast for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow: Prepare for intermittent rain, with some heavy downpours and a few crackling thunderstorms crashing the party. Moderate southeast to northeast winds will add a little flair to your hair, while seas will be moderate to rough, perfect for those wanting to test their sea legs – or find their lunch overboard!

Tuesday’s outlook: More rain, but not the boring kind! Expect heavy splashes and the possibility of thunderstorms over Navua-Suva-Nausori, Serua-Namosi, Tailevu North-Naitasiri-Ra, the Northern Division, Kadavu, and our tiny island pals in Lau and Lomaiviti. For everyone else, showers and the odd thundercloud will show up uninvited but won’t hang around too long.

Heads up! With frequent downpours on the schedule later in the day, low-lying and flood-prone areas may want to keep an eye out for flash flooding – so keep your favorite rubber boots handy!
