A three-day hearing has been scheduled for April 10th to address an application for judicial review regarding the Commission of Inquiry report. This hearing involves three distinct challenges aimed at contesting the report’s legitimacy, with the applicants seeking to overturn its findings and recommendations.

Among those challenging the report are former FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali, Fiji Law Society President William Wylie Clarke, former President Laurel Vaurasi, and ex-Attorney-General Graham Leung. They are being represented by acknowledged lawyers, including Tanya Waqanika, Richard Naidu, and Seforan Fatiaki.

The respondents in this case are the Commission of Inquiry responsible for the appointment of Malimali as FICAC Commissioner, alongside the President, Prime Minister, and Attorney-General.

This legal proceeding reflects ongoing issues surrounding governance and accountability in Fiji, as prominent figures contest the implications of the Commission’s report. The upcoming hearing provides an opportunity for the involved parties to present their perspectives and seek clarity on this critical matter.
