The Fiji Airways Men’s Sevens team secured a commendable third place finish in the second leg of the HSBC Sevens Series held in Cape Town. This performance comes on the heels of their victory in Dubai, showcasing their consistency in the tournament.

In the match against Spain, Fiji demonstrated their remarkable prowess by clinching a decisive 47-10 win, scoring seven tries in total. Spain’s Jeremy Trevithick initially put points on the board with his first of two tries in the game. However, Fiji quickly asserted their dominance with three tries from Joji Nasova, Filipe Sauturaga, and Jeremaia Matana, answering Trevithick’s efforts effectively.

The scoring continued as George Bose, Terio Veilawa, and Kavekini Tanivanuakula added to the scoreboard before Viwa Naduvalo capped off the match with a try after the final whistle. Despite finishing third in Cape Town, the Fiji Men’s Sevens team leads the series standings with 36 points, with Spain trailing in second place, four points behind, and France sitting in third with 30 points.

This strong performance not only solidifies Fiji’s position at the top of the series but also highlights their potential to maintain a leading role as the season progresses. With continued teamwork and skill, hopes are high that Fiji can sustain their momentum in upcoming tournaments.

The team’s resilience and top position in the series standings reflect their dedication and determination, inspiring optimism for the challenges ahead.
