A 24-year-old tour guide has been charged with multiple serious sexual offenses, as revealed in the January 2026 statistics published by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). The young man faces two counts of rape, four counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault involving a 25-year-old woman and a 51-year-old Chinese national.

The accused had been contracted to provide diving and snorkeling services to visitors in Fiji when the alleged incidents occurred.

In a separate case, a 30-year-old man has been charged with the rape of a six-year-old girl, who is known to his family. Additionally, the ODPP reported that a 40-year-old man faced charges of rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault concerning a 17-year-old girl; however, this case was dropped due to difficulties in contacting the victim during trial proceedings.

Furthermore, a 57-year-old man has been charged with eight counts of sexual assault against a 38-year-old woman, although the proceedings were halted following the victim’s death, which was unrelated to the claimed assaults.

These cases shed light on ongoing concerns surrounding sexual violence and the importance of addressing such serious offenses to ensure the safety of all individuals. It serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and support for victims of such crimes.
