A heavy rain alert has been issued for the western and northern regions of Fiji due to a trough of low pressure that is bringing cloud and rain to these areas. The weather conditions are expected to gradually extend to other parts of the country by tomorrow.

Currently, a north to easterly wind flow is influencing the weather patterns across Fiji. The Northern Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Viti Levu, and surrounding smaller islands are predicted to experience occasional rain, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms in some areas.

There is an increased risk of flash flooding in low-lying regions due to the potential for isolated thunderstorms, which may result in significant rainfall. As a consequence, daily activities might be disrupted because of wet roads and diminished visibility.

The Fiji Meteorological Service is set to issue its next weather bulletin at 10:30 PM tonight, providing further updates on the evolving situation.

In light of this developing weather scenario, it’s vital for residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions. Staying informed and prepared can help mitigate the impact of the harsh weather conditions.
