A heavy rain alert has been issued for all of Fiji as the Fiji Meteorological Service warns of an impending active trough of low pressure moving in from the west. This weather system is forecasted to begin impacting the region from Tuesday and will bring periods of rain and thunderstorms.

Starting tomorrow, residents should prepare for intermittent rainfall, which may be heavy at times, with thunderstorms expected to develop as the day progresses. Authorities have indicated that the conditions could result in flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, informal settlements, and along business districts, potentially leading to traffic disruptions.

Urban locations with inadequate drainage systems are likely to suffer from surface flooding, while the rainy conditions could make roads perilous due to wet surfaces and reduced visibility, heightening the chances of accidents.

In light of these conditions, the public is advised to stay informed by closely monitoring weather updates and taking appropriate safety precautions. This warning serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness in the face of adverse weather conditions.
