Farmers Reap Rewards: New Loyalty Program Boosts Fiji’s Sugarcane Community

The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) has partnered with Ba Industries Limited to introduce a Loyalty Program in Lautoka aimed at supporting sugarcane farmers. The initiative includes a five percent discount on farming equipment such as tractors, specifically for SCGF-registered farmers.

Raj Sharma, CEO of SCGF, expressed that this program reflects their dedication to enhancing the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers. Remarkably, the initiative has already surpassed its registration goal, with 1,500 farmers enrolled, and one has reportedly taken advantage of the discount by purchasing a tractor.

Sanjay Badgujar, General Manager of Ba Industries Limited, emphasized the importance of this partnership in fostering a positive future in agriculture. He noted the necessity of inspiring young people to see the potential in farming, while also enhancing the agricultural landscape through their brand, Agri-tech.

This collaboration is part of a broader trend seen with SCGF’s previous efforts to support farmers through various partnerships, including organizing additional programs to help provide discounts on medical services and vital farming supplies. Such initiatives not only aim to directly benefit the farmers but also illustrate the collective effort to sustain the agriculture sector in Fiji.

The ongoing support for farmers through programs like these can serve to strengthen the agricultural community, reinforcing economic resilience while opening doors for future generations in farming. This presents a hopeful vision for sustainability and growth in Fiji’s agricultural landscape as it adapts to modern challenges.
