Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka visited senior police officials in the Western Division on December 9, emphasizing the crucial role of law enforcement in preserving peace and security throughout the nation. During his visit to the Lautoka Police Headquarters, he engaged with the divisional police commander, station officers, and senior officials.

Acknowledging the difficult task law enforcement faces in ensuring public safety and maintaining order, PM Rabuka urged the officers to serve with integrity and objectivity. He remarked, “Your responsibility is to enforce the law. People should have a natural affinity for abiding by the law, and when people are at peace, they will not challenge the law.”

Rabuka stressed the need to cultivate a sense of national pride and discipline among citizens, encouraging them to become productive members of society. He called on the officers to maintain and strengthen public trust in the rule of law and the justice system.

The Prime Minister also inspired the officers to reflect on their professional journeys, seek areas for improvement, and continually strive for progress. He underscored the significance of trust-building through transparent and community-oriented policing.

In closing, PM Rabuka expressed appreciation for the police personnel’s service and urged them to consistently uphold the rule of law and act with professionalism.

This meeting highlights the government’s commitment to bolstering law enforcement’s role in community engagement and public safety, fostering a more cooperative relationship between the police and the communities they serve.

This initiative can potentially lead to a more trusting and secure environment as officers work towards becoming more integrated within the communities, promoting ideals of integrity and accountability. It is a hopeful sign that with continued leadership and community cooperation, the nation can look forward to a safer future.
