The Australian Fiji Rugby Union Under-20 team is gearing up for a significant event this week, as they take center stage during the opening round of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific. They will serve as the curtain-raiser for the match between the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika, providing an excellent platform to showcase their talent and potential.

Currently on an important development tour in Fiji, the AFRU U20 squad is focused on enhancing the Under-20 rugby pathway ahead of international competitions. They arrived in Nadi last Friday and were warmly welcomed by the local community in Saunaka Village, where they spent their first two nights engaging in cultural activities, including attending a church service.

Training sessions for the squad have commenced, including a friendly match against the Fiji Rugby Union Under-20 team held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. The highlight of their tour will occur on Saturday, when they compete against the Drua Development team in Lautoka, just before the main event featuring the Fijian Drua facing Moana Pasifika.

The tour has been supported by Electro Fire Technologies, and the AFRU team has expressed their gratitude to the Fiji Rugby Union, Saunaka Village, the Fijian Drua, and the local community for their warm hospitality and support. The AFRU U20 match is set to kick off at 12:30 pm, leading into the eagerly awaited showdown between the Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika at 3:35 pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This initiative embodies the spirit of rugby, fostering both athletic development and community engagement.
