Rewa Football Club has enhanced its squad ahead of the OFC Men’s Champions League by signing James Do’oro, a 29-year-old goalkeeper from the Solomon Islands. This decision was announced by Rewa FA President Nazil Buksh, who stated that Do’oro’s arrival comes after the departure of Isikeli Sevanaia during the January transfer window, which left the team with only one goalkeeper, Mohammed Alzar Alam.
The addition of Do’oro is aimed at strengthening the goalkeeping options and fostering a competitive environment within the team. Buksh indicated that the goalkeeping duties will be shared based on the matches and performances observed during training sessions.
The OFC Champions League is scheduled to take place from March 30 to April 12, 2025, after which Do’oro is expected to remain with Rewa for the rest of the national football season. His experience and skills are anticipated to be valuable assets as Rewa competes in a challenging group that includes well-respected clubs from New Zealand, Tahiti, and New Caledonia.
This strategic signing reflects Rewa’s commitment to fortifying its team as they represent Fiji in this prestigious competition. The addition of players like Do’oro is creating a wave of optimism among fans, who hope that these changes will lead to enhanced performances and successful outcomes in the tournament. As football continues to grow in the region, the influx of talented players is a promising sign for the future of the sport.
