At Queen Victoria School, a firm anti-drug initiative is being reinforced as the newly appointed head boy for 2026, Isikeli Bari, calls for increased awareness and vigilance among students. Hailing from Moala, Nadi, Bari has expressed concern over a rising trend of youth involvement in drugs and believes his position offers a chance to instigate positive change within the school community.
Bari emphasized the importance of making wise decisions regarding drug use, urging students not to end up regretting their choices later. He announced plans for the student leadership team to collaborate closely with teachers, guiding peers toward responsible decision-making.
“I aim to uphold the legacy of QVS by ensuring that we adhere to school regulations and avoid actions that go against them,” Bari stated. He urged students to support each other and maintain focus on their academic pursuits, highlighting that steering clear of harmful habits is crucial for securing a bright future.
Despite there being no reported cases of drug use at the school, Bari indicated that sustaining discipline and enhancing awareness efforts will be high on the agenda. To preempt any misconduct, school leaders have already implemented nightly dormitory checks to confirm students are in bed by lights-out.
