Police Chief Issues Warning: Stoning of Officers’ Vehicles Will Not Be Tolerated

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has issued a stern warning regarding the stoning of police vehicles, emphasizing that such acts will not be tolerated. This statement comes in the wake of the arrest of a suspect who allegedly threw stones at a police vehicle on Ratu Mara Road late last night.

According to police reports, the incident occurred after 9 PM when the suspect attacked the vehicle. Commissioner Tudravu stressed that this type of behavior undermines police efforts to maintain law and order, stating, “Such incidents will not be condoned, and members of the public are urged to cooperate with police in working together towards crime prevention and reduction efforts.”

He further explained that police officers are currently working diligently to apprehend a second suspect whose identity is known to law enforcement. The arrested suspect is being questioned at the Nabua Police Station.

Tudravu’s comments reflect a broader concern regarding community cooperation with law enforcement. They echo previous statements made by the Commissioner following another viral incident in Taveuni, where he called on citizens to respect police officers and their authority. He has reiterated the importance of collaboration between the public and the police to foster safer communities for all.

Overall, these developments highlight the ongoing efforts by police to engage with the community and promote a culture of respect and cooperation. As law enforcement continues to address such incidents, there is hope that these actions will lead to a more peaceful environment and stronger trust between the public and the police.
