National airline Fiji Airways has appointed Narendra Kumar to its board of directors, a move that is expected to enhance the company’s strategic direction and growth. The announcement was made by Fiji Airways Group chairman Nalin Patel, who highlighted Mr. Kumar’s extensive background in tourism, aviation, governance, finance, and transformation.
Patel expressed enthusiasm about Kumar joining the board, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Narendra to the Fiji Airways Board. His leadership and expertise will add valuable perspective as we continue strengthening our operations, expanding our network, and delivering world-class service to our customers.”
Narendra Kumar has a strong portfolio, currently serving as a director at House of Travel Pty Limited in Australia and House of Travel Holdings Limited in New Zealand. His prior leadership roles include board memberships with Air Pacific Limited, Fiji Resorts Limited, Tourism NSW and Harvey Holidays. He also brings considerable experience from his tenure as CEO of Qantas Link and CFO of Qantas International, where he played a crucial role in transformative initiatives and significant financial turnarounds.
In his acceptance statement, Kumar expressed his honor at joining the board and emphasized his commitment to supporting Fiji Airways’ ongoing success. “I am proud to join the Fiji Airways board at such an exciting time for the airline and look forward to supporting its continued growth, innovation, and service excellence,” he remarked.
Kumar’s appointment took effect on February 13. The airline also took a moment to recognize former board director Daksesh Patel for his contributions and dedicated service. Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah commended Patel for his outstanding leadership and guidance during a pivotal period for the airline, noting the lasting impact of his contributions on the company’s progress and future.
