Viwa Naduvalo showcased his importance to the Fiji Airways men’s 7s team after being awarded Player of the Final at the Singapore 7s on Sunday night. His remarkable all-around performance was pivotal as Fiji clinched the tournament title.
Naduvalo proved to be a constant threat in attack, demonstrating speed and agility to break through defensive lines. He also made significant contributions defensively, stepping up when the team faced challenges. Over the course of the tournament, he made an impressive mark by scoring six tries in five matches, playing a crucial role in Fiji’s victorious campaign.
Expressing gratitude, Naduvalo stated, “First of all, I want to thank the God Almighty, the players and my fellow brothers for giving their 100 per cent effort and playing as a unit which saw us come away with the victory.” He also highlighted the commendable efforts of debutants Douglas Daveta and Nacani Boginisoko, praising their commitment and performance over the two days of competition.
“The future really looks bright. To the new players who made their debut in this tournament, they really stepped up. From their first games they gained confidence and their game improved gradually. It is not easy playing on the international stage but they came right to the final and played really well, and I commend the effort they put in for the team and country,” he added.

Continuing their journey, the Fiji Airways men’s 7s team departed for Australia on Monday, where they will compete in the Perth 7s this weekend, seeking to carry the positive momentum from their success in Singapore into their next matches.
