The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced a significant reshuffle of three Permanent Secretaries, effective February 3, 2025. This change is part of the government’s ongoing effort to strengthen leadership across vital ministries, following consultations with the Prime Minister.

Dr. Raijeli Taga, currently serving as the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, will transition to the role of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In a reciprocal move, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, the current Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will take over Dr. Taga’s position at the Office of the Prime Minister while also serving as Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration, reporting directly to the Minister of Immigration.

Additionally, Mr. Manasa Lesuma, who is the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, has been appointed as Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing, a role he has held since January 14, 2025.

Chairman of the PSC, Luke Rokovada, stressed that these changes are essential for optimizing leadership capabilities and improving service delivery within government operations. This reshuffle not only aims to address the distribution of workloads among officials but also underscores the government’s commitment to fostering local talent in leadership roles.

These strategic adjustments suggest a hopeful direction for governance in Fiji, with the potential for enhanced efficiency and responsiveness to the public’s needs. By empowering skilled professionals to guide administrative initiatives, the government is poised to navigate upcoming challenges effectively.

In summary, this reshuffle marks a significant step towards a more accountable public service framework capable of meeting the evolving demands of the nation, reflecting a proactive and optimistic approach to governance in Fiji.
