A significant sponsorship has been secured by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI) for the upcoming ZEG Kings Boxing Promotion event, scheduled to be held at Vodafone Arena in Suva this Saturday. Pradeep Shenoy, the general manager of LICI, expressed his excitement over the sponsorship, highlighting the company’s longstanding commitment to promoting sports in Fiji over the past 68 years, which includes previous support for boxing events.

Shenoy acknowledged earlier collaborations with South Pacific Boxing Promotions and conveyed his enthusiasm for the upcoming fights, predicting a full house for what promises to be a blockbuster event. Promoter Nahroon Buksh thanked LICI for its support, noting that such sponsorships are vital for enabling significant events in the boxing scene, especially given the limited backing from other stakeholders.

The event is expected to showcase 22 fighters competing in 11 bouts, headlined by Junior Binnu Singh facing off against Australia’s Runqi Zhou for the inaugural WBA Oceania Super Bantamweight Title. Fans can look forward to an action-packed night, underscoring the growing interest in boxing in Fiji and the potential for local fighters to gain recognition on both national and international stages.

This event not only focuses on competitive spirit but also symbolizes a brighter future for boxing in Fiji, reflecting the ongoing commitment of sponsors like LICI and promoters like Buksh to elevate the sport within the region. With excitement building around the matches, this moment marks a pivotal development for Fijian boxing that can inspire future generations of athletes.
