Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has emphasized that his political ambitions have never been about personal gain, but rather focused on re-establishing democracy and good governance in Fiji. Responding to comments made on social media by Lynda Tabuya, he stated his intention was never to become Prime Minister but to remove what he described as an arrogant government that mismanaged the nation and suppressed free speech.
Kamikamica explained that he didn’t actively seek his role as Deputy Prime Minister or as deputy leader of the People’s Alliance party; these decisions were made by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. He encouraged a mindset where contributions to society are recognized through hard work rather than seeking titles and positions.
During his discussion, Kamikamica highlighted the positive technological advancements in Fiji, such as the arrival of Google and Starlink, which he believes will generate significant opportunities for the youth, particularly in tech sectors. He expressed confidence that the government is not merely making promises but is actively taking steps to transform the economy, particularly through initiatives like enhancing the kava industry.
His statements align with the overarching theme of unity and resilience within Fiji’s political landscape, echoing previous assertions where he dismissed rumors about ambitions for the Prime Ministership and reaffirmed his loyalty to Rabuka. Kamikamica’s vision portrays a hopeful future in which collaboration and transparency pave the way for a more prosperous Fiji, nurturing potential for all citizens.
The optimistic outlook he shares indicates a commitment to collective growth and constructive dialogue, hinting at a brighter trajectory for Fiji’s governance and societal cohesion.
