Roko Musuka Uluiburotukula, a 14-year-old athlete from International Secondary School, has made a significant impact at the Suva Zone One Athletics competition by setting a new record in the sub-junior boys’ high jump. Uluiburotukula cleared a remarkable height of 1.82 meters, surpassing his previous record by two centimeters.
His journey in athletics has already been noteworthy, as he broke a record of 1.75 meters at last year’s Fiji Finals. With the Fiji Finals approaching once again, Uluiburotukula has dedicated himself to intensive training, often starting his day at 5 AM to perfect his skills at the stadium.
In addition to his high jump success, Uluiburotukula is also scheduled to compete in the sub-junior boys 200m event, demonstrating his versatility and determination as an athlete. The ongoing competition at the HFC Stadium is being broadcast live on FBC Sports, allowing fans to engage with the event.
Uluiburotukula’s achievements come alongside those of other young Fijian talents, including Rusiate Matai, who recently broke the national record in high jump. The successes of these young athletes not only highlight individual dedication but also foster a collective sense of pride and motivation across the nation.
The inspiring efforts of Uluiburotukula and his peers signify a bright future for athletics in Fiji. Their commitment to excellence serves as an encouragement for the next generation, illustrating the value of hard work, resilience, and community support in pursuing athletic dreams. As they continue to break barriers, these young athletes are paving the way for future successes in sports.
