Hold on to your umbrellas, folks! A *severe thunderstorm warning* for heavy rain is now in effect for the interior and southern regions of Viti Levu and southern Vanua Levu. If you’re planning to stay dry, you might want to reconsider that!
What’s going on? A cheeky trough of low pressure is swaggering into Fiji from the southwest while another one is lounging about, raining on our parade.
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Expect occasional rain – yes, that means you, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki-Tavua, Cakaudrove, and Southern Bua – and don’t forget Taveuni, Lomaiviti, Lau, Kadavu, Yasawa, and Mamanuca! Expect heavy downpours and a few thunderstorms – like nature’s way of throwing a surprise party.
Elsewhere, we’ll see partly cloudy skies with afternoon or evening showers and heavy thunderstorm action. Don’t be surprised if localised heavy falls create mini rivers in low-lying areas – they’ll be looking for a good time, too!
Winds will be moderate from the northeast, getting a bit fresh at times, and the seas will be moderate to rough, perfect conditions for anyone considering a splashdown!
Outlook for Friday: Expect a cloud party with a chance of isolated intense rain, especially over the interior and northeastern parts of the larger islands. Plan accordingly, as more rain could lead to flash floods in your neighbor’s yard.
