Fiji Men’s Netball Team Makes Historic Victory in Nations Series!

The Crest Fiji men’s netball team achieved a historic milestone by winning the Men’s Nations Series in Singapore, marking their first victory in an international tournament. In a thrilling final, Fiji staged a comeback to defeat the Australia Under-23 team 55-54 at the Jurong East Sporting Complex, successfully avenging their earlier loss of 48-60 to Australia during the pool match phase.

Throughout the tournament, Fiji demonstrated their competitive edge by securing significant wins in the pool rounds. They opened with a convincing 47-36 victory against the England Trailblazers, followed by a dominant 57-38 win over New Zealand. The team continued their strong performance by overwhelming the host nation with a score of 62-27, and they completed the pool stage with an impressive 82-20 triumph against Hong Kong. Advancing to the semifinals, Fiji further established their might by defeating England 62-27, which propelled them into the final.

Notably, this tournament marks the first international tour for a Fiji men’s netball team since the 2004 International Men’s Netball Championship in Melbourne, Australia. Captain Kitione Waqavonovono and vice-captain Joseva Nawaqa proudly celebrated their historic achievement, signaling a bright future for men’s netball in Fiji.
