Fiji’s High Commissioner to India, Jagnnath Sami, has formally presented his credentials to the King of Bhutan, a significant step in his appointment as Fiji’s non-resident High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Bhutan. The ceremonial occasion took place at the Grand Kuenrey Hall in Tashichhodzong, Bhutan, where Sami was among six other High Commissioners representing various nations.

During the event, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck congratulated the newly appointed diplomats, extending wishes for their success in enhancing relationships between their countries. The King expressed Bhutan’s ongoing commitment to fostering cooperation and collaboration, inviting Fiji to consider investment opportunities in Bhutan.

In addition to the credential presentation, High Commissioner Sami engaged in a bilateral meeting with Bhutan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade. Their discussions revolved around several key areas of potential collaboration, including tourism, aviation, and cultural exchange programs aimed at benefiting the youth of both nations. Sami also provided updates on the progress of Bhutan’s proposal for an aviation agreement.

Both parties expressed their dedication to strengthening mutual cooperation and deepening diplomatic relations, signaling a positive outlook for future engagements between Fiji and Bhutan. This appointment not only enhances Fiji’s diplomatic presence but also opens doors for fruitful partnerships that could elevate both nations.
