Fiji Airways has experienced a notable decline in its ranking, falling to 31st place in the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards, a significant drop from its 14th position in the previous year. This decline is further emphasized by its slip to third place in the Best Airline in Australia/Pacific category, where it was previously at the top in 2024.
The 2025 Skytrax awards, considered a prestigious benchmark in the aviation industry, assess airlines based on passenger satisfaction across various attributes of service and performance. In this year’s evaluation, Fiji Airways has been overtaken by Qantas, which ranks first in the region, followed closely by Air New Zealand.
Despite this setback in international rankings, it is worth noting that Fiji Airways has recently received recognition from AirlineRatings.com as the 12th Best Airline in the World, highlighting its commitment to passenger comfort and consistent quality across its network. Furthermore, the airline continues to achieve accolades such as the APEX Five Star Major Airline award for three consecutive years, ranking it among just 40 airlines globally and showcasing its exceptional service standards.
Andre Viljoen, the Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, has expressed pride in the airline’s awards and stated that these achievements reflect not only the airline’s efforts but also the spirit of Fiji. The airline remains focused on enhancing the flying experience for its passengers, including the introduction of non-stop flights to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, set to launch in December 2024.
While the drop in the Skytrax rankings is disappointing, the recognition from other prestigious organizations serves as a beacon of resilience and a foundation for future improvement. As Fiji Airways continues to innovate and expand its services, it remains a source of national pride and a hopeful symbol of progress in the competitive airline industry. The airline’s commitment to providing excellent service and fostering an authentic Fijian experience points to a bright horizon ahead in the world of aviation.
