The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua faced a challenging match against the Waratahs, ending in a 36–13 defeat during Round Two of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.
The Waratahs got off to a strong start, with Gamble scoring the opening try in the 10th minute. The Drua quickly responded with a try from Taniela Rakuro in the 14th minute, converted by Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, who added two penalties to keep the team competitive. However, Jorgensen’s try just before halftime gave the Waratahs a 14–10 lead at the break.
The second half proved to be more difficult for the Drua, as the Waratahs began to pull away. Moananu scored two tries in quick succession at the 50th and 72nd minutes, with Blyth contributing another try in the 59th minute. Jorgensen capped off the Waratahs’ performance with his second try in the 80th minute, bringing the match to a conclusion at 36–13.
Despite showing promising moments in attack, the Drua struggled to maintain their form as the match progressed, continuing their difficulty on the road. Looking ahead, the team plans to regroup and focus on securing their first win of the season in Round Three. The challenges faced thus far could serve as valuable learning experiences, providing the Drua with motivation and insight as they continue their campaign in the Super Rugby Pacific league.
