The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are eager to turn their season around as they prepare to battle the Hurricanes this afternoon at Churchill Park in what promises to be an exhilarating Super Rugby Pacific showdown. Kick-off is slated for 3:35 PM, with the Drua keen to recover from two consecutive losses in their opening matches.

Despite this rocky start, co-captain Frank Lomani is optimistic about the team’s morale. He stated that the squad is exhibiting strong energy and commitment during their preparations for today’s match, emphasizing that the vibe remains positive. “The boys are hyped up even though we didn’t get the results in the first two rounds. The spirit is still there, and we turn up every day. The training intensity has been strong, and everyone is putting their hands up for selection. That’s what makes the team better day by day,” Lomani explained.

The Drua will miss co-captain Temo Mayanavanua due to injury, but Lomani praised the team’s resilience, noting that other players have stepped into leadership roles. “It’s unfortunate Temo is missing out, but it’s really good to see players stepping up. I’m grateful for the support and the way the boys are taking responsibility,” he acknowledged.

Weather conditions may also influence the game, with heavy rain predicted. However, Lomani is confident in the team’s ability to adapt, stating, “Hail, rain or shine, we’ll still turn up. Rugby conditions will never always go our way, but we’ve got to adapt. We’ve played in heavy rain and heat before, so it’s nothing new for us.”

He also reached out to the fans, encouraging them to fill the stands in Lautoka and support the team. “To our fans here and abroad, we really appreciate your support. You are the world’s best fans. Come out and support the boys and the talent here in Lautoka. We’ll be playing the Hurricanes, and it’s going to be a really good game you don’t want to miss,” he urged.

With a dedicated home crowd expected and a renewed sense of determination within the squad, the Drua are hopeful that today’s match will serve as a pivotal moment in their season. The anticipation builds as they face a formidable opponent, aiming to showcase their capabilities and secure a crucial victory.
