The 50th anniversary of the Coca-Cola Games is being celebrated with a significant donation of $50,000 worth of sporting equipment to participating schools. This generous contribution, announced by Coca-Cola EuroPacific Partners Fiji, includes $35,000 in equipment directed towards the overall champions in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions, alongside $15,000 allocated to selected maritime schools.

Ryan Mahoney, the Commercial Director of Coca-Cola EuroPacific Partners Fiji, expressed delight at supporting the milestone celebration. He emphasized that this initiative aims to bolster the development of sports talent across Fiji, stating, “We’re delighted to celebrate the 50th year of Coca-Cola supporting these games by providing a special donation of $50,000, which will be used for purchasing equipment.”

Among the maritime schools set to benefit from this initiative are Ratu Lalabalavu Memorial School, Cicia High School, Adi Moapa Secondary School, Gau Secondary School, Richmond Methodist High School, Vunisea Secondary School, and Rotuma High School. This provision is intended to incentivize and inspire the athletes participating in this year’s games.

The Coca-Cola Games have a rich history of being a premier event, showcasing emerging athletic talent from secondary schools across Fiji. This year’s Games, set to occur from April 24 to 26 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, is expected to attract more than 2,600 athletes, embodying the spirit of competition and community unity. Furthermore, events like the ongoing Powerade National Torch Relay lead up to the games, emphasizing the community engagement surrounding this celebration.
