The British Army rugby team has become the first international group to arrive for the highly anticipated 2026 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s. This event features a competitive lineup of 13 overseas teams, all vying for the impressive $50,000 prize for the men’s competition.

Upon their arrival yesterday, the British Army team paid a memorable visit to Lawai Village in Nadroga. The reception they received was heartfelt and remarkable, as the village, renowned for its pottery, warmly embraced the team. The villagers welcomed the players and management with open arms, treating them like family and committing to support their new friends during the tournament at Lawaqa Park next week.

The British Army team finds itself in Pool E, facing off against Japan SDS, Drua 7s, and Yaro Chiefs in the tournament. In addition to this interaction, the spirit of rugby was clearly evident as the Chinese Women’s 7s squads engaged in competitive matches against the New Zealand Development 7s teams, showcasing excellent preparation ahead of their own journey to Fiji.

The Coral Coast 7s is set to kick off next Thursday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, and audiences can catch all the thrilling action live and exclusively on FBC Sports. This event is not only a display of athleticism but also an opportunity for cultural exchange and community spirit, promising an exciting week ahead for rugby fans and athletes alike.
