A weak trough continues to bring cloud and showers to northern and eastern Fiji while a moist easterly wind flow prevails across the group. Another trough is forecast to approach from the west later tomorrow, bringing rain to areas that are currently drier. Moderate to fresh easterly winds are expected today, with winds tending more northerly from late tomorrow, and moderate to rough seas are likely around most coasts.
Cloudy periods with showers are expected through to midnight tomorrow for Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Cikobia and nearby smaller islands, Taveuni and nearby islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and surrounding isles. Elsewhere conditions will be largely fine apart from the usual afternoon or evening showers. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy falls are likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, and isolated heavy downpours may cause flash flooding in low‑lying and flood‑prone locations.
People in population centres should expect the wettest conditions to develop later tomorrow as rain spreads in from the west. Navua/Suva/Nausori and Natadradave/Korovou will see cloudy periods with showers and the risk of afternoon or evening thunderstorms with heavy falls; temperatures in these areas are expected to reach about 30°C today, with minimums around 23°C tomorrow. Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, Tavua/Rakiraki and Labasa are generally fine today apart from late showers and possible thunderstorms, but rain becomes more likely from later tomorrow; daytime highs near the coast are forecast in the low 30s°C.
Island groups will feel the change as the approaching trough moves in. The Yasawa/Mamanuca and Sigatoka/Coral Coast should remain mostly fine today aside from evening showers and storms, but both are likely to see rain developing from late tomorrow. Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and many northern centres including Savusavu and Nabouwalu are currently under cloudy conditions with showers and a growing chance of heavier rain from tomorrow; local maxima are generally around 30–31°C with overnight lows near 23°C.
Marine and safety notes: seas are moderate to rough, so small craft operators should exercise caution. With the potential for localized heavy falls and thunderstorms, residents in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas should be prepared for sudden runoff and possible flash flooding. The outlook for Monday is for occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls across most places, with rain gradually clearing from the west later in the day as winds shift from northerly toward southwesterly and seas remain moderate to rough.
