The University of the South Pacific (USP) is actively seeking a new Vice-Chancellor and President, marking a significant opportunity for leadership within the region’s foremost higher education institution. This critical role entails serving as the chief executive officer and principal academic leader of USP, reporting directly to the University Council.

According to the university, the appointment comes at a transformative juncture as it aims to enhance institutional frameworks, ensure financial sustainability, and promote Pacific knowledge systems. The incoming Vice-Chancellor is expected to provide visionary and inclusive leadership, engaging with USP’s diverse campuses across the region while fostering research in crucial fields such as climate change, environmental sciences, health, governance, and sustainable development.

Ideal candidates for this position will possess substantial senior leadership experience within large and complex institutions, along with strong strategic and financial management skills. A demonstrated history of facilitating institutional transformation and innovation is also essential. Moreover, the Vice-Chancellor will act as a primary advocate for USP among member governments, regional organizations, and international development partners.

The role will be situated at USP’s Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji, where the successful applicant is anticipated to primarily reside. The recruitment process is being facilitated by the international consultancy Perrett Laver, with applications set to close on May 4.
