The Kaiviti Silktails faced a challenging start to their season, suffering a 12-22 defeat against the Penrith Panthers in their opening match on Saturday in Sydney. The Fijian team kicked off the game positively, scoring the first try and establishing an early lead that showcased their agile attack and ability to test the Panthers’ defense.

As the match progressed, the Panthers regrouped and responded strongly, overcoming the Silktails by scoring two tries before halftime, which allowed them to take a narrow 10-6 lead into the break.

The second half turned into a fierce contest, with both sides displaying impressive defensive skills and executing hard-hitting tackles. The Panthers continued to build on their momentum, adding two more tries and converting them successfully. Although the Silktails managed to score a second try later in the game, their efforts fell short as they struggled to regain possession and close the scoring gap in the final minutes.

While the Silktails could not secure a victory, their strong offensive plays and quick ball movement indicated potential for improvement as the season progresses. Fans of the team can remain hopeful that their dedicated performance will set the foundation for better results in future matches.
