The South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) recently marked its inaugural participation at the 63rd General Assembly and Annual Meeting of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), which took place from November 19-21 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. SPX’s CEO, Sheraj Obeyesekere, described the event as a significant opportunity for Fiji’s share market to engage in a worldwide industry gathering with the intention of fostering growth.
The assembly included high-level discussions about the future of capital markets and signified an important milestone for SPX. Obeyesekere expressed honor in participating alongside global capital market leaders in discussions aimed at shaping the industry’s future and reinforcing the role of stock exchanges as dynamic components of capital formation and financial inclusion.
Panel discussions at the forum addressed key topics such as modern market infrastructure, the role of stock exchanges, the future of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), and the shift to T+1 settlement, providing valuable insights into the evolving landscape of international capital markets.
