Situation: We’ve got a weak trough of low pressure hanging around like a guest who doesn’t know when to leave, causing quite the stir over Fiji’s eastern parts. This situation is boosting the northeasterly winds, making sure they’re blowing with just the right amount of sass. Meanwhile, another cheeky trough is making its way from the west, slithering in on Tuesday to bring showers and thunderstorms.

Here’s the forecast until midnight tomorrow for the fabulous Fiji group:

Expect occasional showers that may just decide to throw in some heavy downpours and an isolated thunderstorm or two over Viti Levu’s eastern and interior regions. This includes the coastal areas from Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori all the way up to northern Tailevu, and don’t forget interior Ra, Serua/Namosi, Tailevu/Naitasiri. The party continues in eastern and interior parts of Vanua Levu and Taveuni, including Cakaudrove and Southern Bua province — Namuka-Dogotuki, you’re on the list too! We can’t leave out Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and those nearby smaller islands for a good drenching.

Elsewhere, it’ll be cloudy with brief showers making an appearance. And yes, expect afternoon or evening thunderstorms that could turn into a full-blown waterworks show.

Heads up! Localized heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Keep your umbrellas close and your life jackets closer!

Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds will be whistling through, with occasional gusts that might have you gripping your hats. And as for the sea? Moderate to rough — sadly, not the best day for sailing smooth.

Outlook for Tuesday: Expect those showers to pull a fast one and amp up to rain, potentially becoming a frequent thunderous concerto over Viti Levu’s eastern and interior areas. The temperatures will be matched by some thrilling thunder.

The forecast for specific places is as follows:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori:
Brace for occasional showers and some heavy ones at that, with a few thunderstorms wanting to join the fun.

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast:
Cloudy periods are set to swoop in with brief showers. Thunderstorms are fashionably late but expected later in the day.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:
Cloudy conditions with brief showers look like they’ve overstayed their welcome, plus expect evening thunderstorms with some heavy falls.

For Tavua/Rakiraki:
Similar cloudy and shower-y vibes are on the menu, with thunderstorms prepared to crash the party.

For Natadradave/Korovou:
Occasional showers will persist, with heavy bursts expected and the odd thunderstorm throwing in for good measure.

For the Yasawa/Mamanuca group:
Expect cloudy weather with brief showers and a sprinkle of thunderstorms later on.

For Labasa:
Keep your umbrellas handy with cloudy periods and brief showers, alongside potential thunderstorms throwing in some heavy falls later.

For Savusavu:
Occasional showers will sneak in, heavy at times with a few thunderstorms having their say.

For Lau/Lomaiviti:
Showers will be at the ready, heavy at times, and they’re bringing a thunderstorm buddy.

For Kadavu:
Occasional heavy showers will make an entrance, possibly with some thunder joining the fun.

For Rotuma:
An active trough over Rotuma means it’s time for rain, heavy at times, along with some squally thunderstorms. The winds will be moderate with an adventurous twist, and seas will be moderate to rough.

Outlook for Tuesday: Expect more cloud cover, some showers, and a few thunderstorms looking to liven things up again. Stay dry and keep smiling, folks!
