Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have been nominated for the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Award, which honors the PGA Tour Player of the Year. Scheffler, who secured two major titles among his six victories in 2025, and McIlroy, who achieved a career Grand Slam by triumphing at the Masters, will be contending for this accolade, as announced by the PGA Tour.
Joining them in the nominations are Tommy Fleetwood, who clinched the Tour Championship in August and took home the coveted FedExCup and its $10 million prize, along with Ben Griffin, a standout performer with three wins in 2025.
Scheffler, currently ranked world number one, displayed exceptional consistency throughout the year with a PGA Tour-leading 17 top-10 finishes and completed the season without missing a cut. His victories, including the PGA Championship and the British Open, brought his career total of major wins to four, positioning him on the brink of accomplishing a career Grand Slam should he capture the U.S. Open.
Meanwhile, McIlroy celebrated three wins in 2025, marking a significant moment at Augusta National, where he emerged victorious in a dramatic two-man sudden-death playoff. This win was particularly meaningful as it ended an 11-year drought at major tournaments on a course where he had faced numerous challenges.
In addition to the Player of the Year nominations, Aldrich Potgieter from South Africa and Karl Vilips from Australia are in the running for the Arnold Palmer Award, which recognizes the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. They are joined by American contenders Michael Brennan, Steven Fisk, and William Mouw.
Voting for both awards will be conducted among PGA Tour members who participated in at least 15 official FedExCup events during the 2025 season, with the ballot closing on December 12. The winners will be announced at a later date, showcasing the achievements of this year’s standout performers in professional golf.
