The Matua Programme at Nabua Secondary School, located near Suva, is making a remarkable impact on the lives of its students. This initiative is particularly focused on young individuals, primarily school dropouts who could not finish their high school education due to various personal challenges. The program provides these students with a vital second chance, helping them reclaim their path to education and a brighter future.

Nabua Secondary School stands out as the only institution in Fiji that offers such a program. Over the past twenty years, it has aided hundreds of adult learners in successfully completing their secondary education, paving the way for further studies at the tertiary level.

Recently, more than 42 students celebrated their graduation from the Matua Programme. One of the graduates, Lusiana Turaga, shared how the program has motivated her and her peers to chase their educational ambitions. She expressed how it reignited her hopes and allowed her to thrive amidst a diverse group of fellow students.

Lusiana noted that this inclusive environment not only benefits the younger participants but also fosters social bonds among older citizens, acknowledging their contributions and ensuring they remain engaged in their communities. She emphasized that the program enhances financial stability and access to essential services, ultimately promoting a life of dignity and comfort for the students as they advance in their journeys.

The overarching aspiration among the participants is to evolve into better versions of themselves. The success stories emerging from the Matua Programme create a hopeful narrative of resilience and personal growth within the community.

In summary, the Matua Programme serves as a powerful testament to the importance of education and inclusivity, offering individuals a chance to overcome past challenges and build a promising future.
