Residents of the Central and Eastern divisions of Fiji are preparing for significant cloud cover and rain over the next 24 hours. The Fiji Meteorological Services has indicated that an active trough of low pressure is currently affecting the region, accompanied by an embedded low pressure system situated to the southwest of the island group.
Rainy conditions are predicted to gradually improve as the trough moves towards the Western division later in the day. However, caution is advised for areas such as the Yasawa group, northern parts of Viti Levu (from Tavua through Rakiraki to Tailevu North), as well as the Northern Division, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups, where a heavy rain warning is currently in effect.
While the weather may bring challenges in the short term, it is crucial to remember that such conditions can also benefit the local agriculture and water reservoirs, potentially supporting a much-needed replenishment of resources. It is hoped that residents take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period of inclement weather.
