Recent law enforcement operations in Fiji have led to multiple arrests related to drug cultivation and transportation. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Operations Livai Driu announced that a coordinated effort involving police from the Central Division and the Police Mobile Force targeted illegal drug activities.

In one raid conducted in the Daku region of Kadavu, a 26-year-old man from Daku village was apprehended for allegedly cultivating illicit drugs. Authorities confiscated over one thousand marijuana plants, along with loose materials and seeds from the suspect’s farm. The seized items have been dispatched for forensic analysis as investigations are ongoing.

In a subsequent operation in Nakasi, authorities caught a man in his 20s with large bags filled with dried marijuana leaves and branches. This arrest is part of a broader investigation into the suspect’s alleged role in transporting drugs from maritime islands in the Eastern Division. Similar to the previous raid, the substances recovered have been sent for analysis.

ACP Driu emphasized the importance of these operations, stating that the aim is to disrupt and dismantle drug networks in the region. He also highlighted the commitment of the police to collaborate with various partners to combat the illicit drug trade effectively. This initiative aligns with the efforts of Commissioner of Police Russiate Tudravu, who is determined to address the drug issue by focusing on reducing supply.

In summary, these recent operations demonstrate a strong stance against drug-related crimes in Fiji, aiming to ensure that individuals involved are held accountable and to reduce the prevalence of illicit substances in the community. With continued collaboration and diligence, there is hope for a safer environment for all citizens.
