Three individuals are currently in police custody following their involvement in drug-related offenses. On Sunday afternoon, law enforcement, in collaboration with the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), conducted a raid at a residence in Tamole Settlement, New Town. During the operation, a 56-year-old unemployed man and a 23-year-old car wash attendant willingly handed over 117 sachets of dried plant material wrapped in aluminum foil, which is suspected to be marijuana.

Additionally, a 53-year-old casual worker from Newtown Settlement was apprehended the following day as police executed another search warrant at his home. He also voluntarily surrendered a quantity of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug-related issues within the community. It serves as a reminder of the importance of public cooperation in addressing illegal drug activities. The community’s vigilance and support for the police can lead to safer neighborhoods and a more significant reduction in drug-related crimes.

Overall, while the situation is serious, it underscores a collective movement towards a drug-free environment, making it essential for residents to remain engaged and proactive in these matters.
