A prominent businessman is currently in police custody following the alleged discovery of various drugs, including methamphetamine and marijuana, at his Nadi residence. Authorities confirmed that the individual was arrested on Friday and is undergoing questioning while remaining detained.

Reports indicate that police found packets of methamphetamine along with other drugs at the suspect’s home, situated in an upscale neighborhood. The police have yet to comment on the specifics of the case.

This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on drug-related activities in the area. Recently, law enforcement arrested another individual identified as a key figure in the local drug trade, seizing a substantial amount of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana, in addition to equipment commonly associated with drug distribution, such as packaging machines and a digital scale.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, emphasized the Fiji Police’s dedication to combating the illicit drug trade and apprehending its key operators. He stressed the importance of gathering intelligence and employing evidence-based strategies to facilitate effective prosecutions.

The police have also highlighted the vital role of community involvement in their fight against drug-related crimes, urging residents to report any information that could assist in dismantling local drug operations.

This ongoing situation underscores the persistent challenges of drug trafficking within the region. However, with continued proactive police initiatives and community collaboration, there remains hope for creating a safer environment for all.
