Labasa football club North-pole celebrated victory and a reward of $4,000 after triumphing in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). They secured their win by defeating Buiduna with a score of 6-3 during the match held at the Fiji Football Association grounds.
The game showcased intense competition, especially in the first half, which concluded in a 2-2 deadlock. However, North-pole took control in the second half, with Melvin Mani scoring to give them the lead in the 55th minute, followed by Christopher Wasasala netting his second goal shortly after in the 61st minute. Additional contributions came from Eparama Moraica and Mohammed Arbaz, solidifying their win.
Although Buiduna faced defeat, their journey to the final marked a historic achievement as it was their first appearance in the NCCC final. They kicked off their tournament with a 2-1 victory against Rewa’s Nakasi Police, proceeded with a tough 1-0 win over Lautoka’s Rivals, and capped off their pool play with a draw against Nadroga’s Downtown, which secured their place in the final. For their efforts, Buiduna received $1,000.
