Olivia Dean and Little Simz are leading the nominations for the 2026 MOBO Awards, set to honor black music in the UK and beyond. Both artists have received four nominations each, highlighting their significant contributions to music over the past year. Dean’s album, “The Art Of Loving,” is in the running for Album of the Year, marking a remarkable achievement for the London-born singer in a year filled with notable successes.
Little Simz, a three-time MOBO winner, is recognized for her sixth album, “Lotus.” Her nominations include Best Female, Best Hip-Hop Act, and Video of the Year, representing a strong return following her split from longtime collaborator Inflo.
Other artists with multiple nominations include PinkPantheress, Skepta, Central Cee, and newcomers Kwn and Jim Legxacy, all of whom have made impressive strides in the music scene. The MOBO Awards, to be held in Manchester on March 26, will also celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary. Kanya King, the founder, emphasized the transformative impact that receiving a MOBO Award can have on an artist’s career, mentioning that many have used the recognition as a springboard for greater success.
In addition to Dean’s nominations, her track “Man I Need” is up for Song of the Year alongside her nominations for Best Female and Best Soul Act. Newcomer Jim Legxacy, who recently gained attention by finishing second in the BBC’s Sound of 2026, is recognized for his engaging video “Father” and the collaboration “3x” with rap star Dave. KWN is another rising star, celebrating her breakout year in 2025 and receiving nominations for Best Newcomer, Best Female Act, Best Soul Act, and Song of the Year for “Do What I Say.”
Sasha Keable, who experienced a hiatus in her career, is also back with strong nominations in the Best Female and Best Soul Act categories. Following her emergence with tracks like “Hold Up” and “Act Right,” she expressed gratitude for her loyal fanbase and shared insights about perseverance in the industry.
The vocal harmony group Flo has also garnered attention with three nominations, including Album of the Year for their debut “Access All Areas.” They recently made history by becoming the first UK girl group to receive a Grammy nomination in two decades. Other contenders for Album of the Year include the jazz group Ezra Collective and rapper Kojey Radical, highlighting the diverse and rich music landscape in the UK.
The MOBO Awards not only recognize outstanding talent but also signify a movement toward broadening the representation and development of artists beyond traditional centers like London. As part of the celebrations, a fringe festival featuring concerts, workshops, and discussion panels will be organized in collaboration with Manchester City Council, showcasing the city’s commitment to fostering musical talent.
The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at the Co-Op Live Arena, promising an exciting event as the music community comes together to celebrate its vibrant and evolving scene.
