In a significant move to enhance educational opportunities for children in the Macuata province, twelve districts have committed to raising $30,000 each, aiming for a total of $360,000 by the end of the 2025 financial year. Tui Labasa Ratu Jone Qomate, who led the meeting, commended the districts for their proactive approach. The decision comes in light of concerning statistics from the recent Fiji Eighth Year Examination (FEYE), which indicated that approximately 6,000 students did not pass the assessment. Ratu Jone pointed out that an education committee, comprising retired teachers, will investigate how many of these students hail from Macuata.
